The Gourdfather Imperial Pumpkin is here!

Ahh Pumpkin beer.. The brew that you love or hate, or love to hate.

Without fail, every August -and sometimes sooner- you will start to see pumpkin beers popping up on distributor shelves everywhere. It makes sense, breweries tackle this seasonal release just like any other company would. Get your product out there as soon as possible, get customers in the “mood” for your product, and wait for the demand to begin. Pumpkin beer also seems to be one of the best ways to bring new craft beer drinkers in to the fold. It’s a “safe” choice but they still get the “craft beer experience”.There’s hundreds of types of Pumpkin beers out there, you just have to find the right one for you. Like ours, for instance.

Here at Sterling Pig we do things a little differently. While yes, we start brewing our Pumpkin beer early, we wait for it to age to perfection before we release it to the public. We believe that this ale is best enjoyed with a slight crisp in the air and the atmosphere is the spookiest – October! This year’s pumpkin was made with Melanoidin, Munich and Irish Pale Malts. Columbus hop for bittering and pounds of roasted squash. The Gourdfather Pumpkin Ale clocks in at 7.8% ABV and has a very balanced flavor profile. There’s enough spice to remind you of Grandmom’s pumpkin pie but not so much that you feel like you’re eating a Yankee candle. No offense to Yankee candle. This delicious brew is now available on the taps at the Media brewpub. Get it before it’s gone! Cheers!

Pro tip: Try a mix of the Gourdfather with one of our dark beers…It’s awesome.
